I saw the cathedrals of artificial intelligence,
rising from forgotten fields like temples without prayers,
their endless walls trembling with invisible thought,
their steel lungs breathing day and night.
I heard them before I saw them—
the relentless howl of cooling towers,
the roar of turbines swallowing silence,
the mechanical thunder that frightened the birds from their ancient songs.
They drank the rivers,
they demanded lakes for their fevered engines,
they exhaled hot winds into weary skies,
their appetite measured in megawatts and forgotten forests.
Oh, the data palaces of the new prophets—
they promise immortal knowledge,
they promise infinite answers,
yet their glowing chambers hunger for another stream,
another mountain,
another horizon hidden beneath wires and concrete.
I saw clouds stained with the breath of progress,
I saw deserts waiting for rain that never arrived,
I saw children searching for stars
through the haze of a civilization
that mistook endless computation
for endless wisdom.
The earth did not ask for another algorithm.
The rivers did not volunteer
to become coolant for electric dreams.
The forests never signed away
their quiet covenant with the wind.
And I,
a bewildered witness beneath the humming sky,
stood listening to the great electrical chant
echoing across valleys that once knew only crickets,
wondering if humanity had traded its own heartbeat
for the endless pulse of silicon.
But beneath the roaring transformers,
beneath the shrill machinery that refused to sleep,
beneath the language of profit and prediction,
I heard another voice.
Soft as rain returning to thirsty soil.
