Joe Campolo Jr. is an award winning author, poet and public speaker. He is known for his award winning books The Kansas NCO, Back to the World, Three Wars, and his most recent publication On War, Fishing and Philosophy. A United States Air Force Vietnam War veteran, Joe belongs to the VFW, The American Legion, the Kenosha Area Vietnam Vets (KAVV), and Vietnam Vets of America (VVA).
Joe started writing at an early age, penning fantasies inspired by Jack O Brien, Twain, and others. He wrote several articles for military newspapers while serving in the Air Force. Joe holds an Associate Degree in Engineering and a Bachelor’s Degree in business with a minor in history. Joe had a rewarding career in engineering and procurement, traveling the world on many interesting projects, writing many papers and articles for company reports and news letters.
Joe’s interests are very diverse; he played two musical instruments in his youth and holds a yellow belt in Taekwondo.

At the encouragement of his late mother, Joe started writing books and short stories. His short stories, often humorous, cover many topics and many are on this blog.

As a Veteran mentor, Joe recently completed one year of service on a local Veteran’s Drug Treatment Court.
Joe is a member of several Veteran’s Facebook groups, and busy though he is, serves as an administrator on two of them.
Joe’s first published book The Kansas NCO is a historical novel about a black market operation during the Vietnam War. The award winning book was hugely popular and, at the request of his readers, he wrote his second published book Back To The World, the sequel to The Kansas NCO. Back To The World has been extremely popular also, Three Wars is also very popular. Three Wars is a prequel that takes us back to World War Two, and some are saying it’s Joe’s best book. Joe’s latest book On War, Fishing and Philosophy is a cocktail table book, which has already earned kudos from many readers and book venues. See his book page for more details.

Last year Joe was gifted a Storyworth subscription where he added a short story with photos, every week based upon questions provided by the host. The book is now available for order, if anyone would like one, send Joe a message through the contact page.
Sadly Ann, Joe’s wife of forty years, passed away this year. Joe and Ann raised two children and have two grandchildren. Joe enjoys traveling, fishing, spending time with his family and writing.
