Vietnam Veteran and poet Bob “Smoke” Schweitzer shares his writing on the Fall of Saigon.
Bob’s words reflect his thoughts on the sad event which happened some fifty one years ago.
TEARS FOR SAIGON
Tears for Saigon pour down from the sky
Tears for Saigon can’t stop asking why
We did not keep our promise and fight ’til the end
The land of Saigon, South Vietnam
Tears for Saigon pour from our hearts
So many dispersed, families ripped apart
Many were stuck and could not escape
Beatings and torture became their cruel fate
Tears for Saigon
Pour down from the sky
Tears for Saigon
Can’t stop asking why
Oh why
I cry
Tears for Saigon, I won’t forget
The glorious culture the music’s in my head
And though I feel shame, we left you too soon
I know I did my part what more could I do
Tears for Saigon
Pour down from
the sky

You did your part
No need to ask why
What more could you do,
but cry.
Love your Poem, Bob Smoke, thank you.
No words can compete with those tears.
